The predator tank is located in the RumFish Grill indoor bar. Lionfish are an invasive species now causing havoc on the reefs of Florida, the Caribbean and up the Atlantic coast. The tank also features Pacific tropicals.
With vivid colors, distinct stripe pattern and spectacular fins (which happen to be venomous), the lionfish may be beautiful but is highly predatory, has an insatiable appetite and can decimate native fish populations. “Culinary Conservation” may be one way that humans can minimize the impact of this fish, as their fillets are exceptionally good eating. Lionfish may soon be featured on the RumFish Grill menu.
